Vancouver, Washington Relocation
Vancouver sits on the north bank of the Columbia River in Clark County directly across from Portland. It has a population of 145,000 residents and covers over 22 square miles of land.
Vancouver, the oldest city in Washington, was founded in 1824 by fur traders from the Hudson's Bay Company,as part of Great Britain's effort to secure territory for Canada on the west coast of North America. This effort failed when what became the State of Washington was ceded to the U.S. in 1849. Not until 1881 was Vancouver,British Columbia three hundred miles to the north and now much larger than Vancouver, Washington founded.
