Step in close and you’ll discover that the City of Richmond, with an approximate population of 197,800, and the surrounding counties of Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover and New Kent make up the entire Historic Richmond Region. To the north lies our nation’s capital. To the east, brackish waters feed into the Chesapeake Bay. To the west, the rolling Appalachian Mountains begin to rise. And smack dab in the center of it all you’ll find the Historic Richmond Region, in the heart of the Mid-Atlantic.
