Minnesota covers 86,943 square miles and has a population of 4,919,479 people. Minnesota's capital is Saint Paul, which has a population of 287,151. Other important cities are Minneapolis (pop. 382,618), Duluth (pop. 86,918), Rochester (pop. 85,806), Bloomington (pop. 85,172), Brooklyn Park (pop. 67,388), Plymouth (pop. 65,894), Eagan (pop. 63,557), Coon Rapids (pop. 61,607) and Burnsville (pop. 60,220).

Minnesota was admitted to the Union on May 11th, 1858 as the 32nd state. The state flower is the "Pink and White Lady's Slipper" and its' nickname are the "North Star State" and the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Minnesota is bordered by North Dakota to the northwest, South Dakota to the southwest, Iowa to the south, Wisconsin to the east and Canada to the North. Minnesota's economy is broken into two categories; agriculture and industry.
Dairy products, corn, cattle, soybeans, hogs, wheat and turkeys provide for the agricultural side. While machinery, food processing, printing and publishing, fabricated metal products, electric equipment, mining and tourism
provide for the industrial side.
