Marco Island, Florida

Marco Island is an island off the coast of southwest Florida covering 24 square miles. It has a rich history dating hundreds of years ago and has undergone a series of name changes beginning with La Isle de San Marco meaning the island of Saint Mark referring to St. Mark in the second gospel of the bible to San Marco Island (Saint Mark's Island) to its current name, Marco Island. Marco Island is the largest of the islands off of the southwestern region of islands known as Ten Thousand Islands.
